About the Ohio Bowhunters Association
What is the Ohio Bowhunters Association?
The Ohio Bowhunters Association, Inc. was founded in 1967 by a group of dedicated bowhunters. These bowhunters felt there was a great need for the bowhunters of Ohio to have their own state organization. Much thought and consideration was put forth in developing the purpose for this new statewide bowhunters organization. Many turmoils and obstacles have arisen, but the purpose of our organization has been upheld for the past thirty eight years and we hope this will continue for many more years to come.We work closely with our state Division of Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources, as well as, the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance to help ensure our hunting rights remain intact, and the supply and demand of our resources remain plentiful for years to come. We are very supportive of our states Bowhunter Education program, our Bowhunter instructors have helped in the education of over 35,000 bowhunters in the state of Ohio. These courses are free and open to the public.
Our motto is "to protect, promote, and upgrade the sport of bowhunting in the state of Ohio", we represent our membership at all game hearings and wildlife council meetings. We host three events each year, a Spring Bear Shoot in March, a Summer Jamboree in July and a State Shoot in August. An Awards banquet is held each year in February to recognize our membership for their bowhunting achievements.
Our Board is made up of: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a nine member Advisory Council.
