9:00 a.m. - Hunting Africa with Mike Edwards, Mike has experienced Africa on several occasions and after this exciting hunt we'll all be ready to head out.

10:00 a.m. Straight from the hills of West Virginia, back by popular demand Smokey McNicholas, a trapper by trade, Smokey owns and operates his own lure company which have attracted some of the largest bucks in the northeast (visit his display). Smokey will share some of his knowledge on lures, trapping and even coyote calling. If you missed Smokey last year you are in for a treat.

11:00 a.m. Talking Turkey with Alex Vadrinski, Alex is a State, National & World Champion several times over, no one talks turkey like Alex Vadrinski.

12:00 p.m.  5th Annual Youth Turkey Calling Contest, Come experience the excitement these youth put forth, who will walk away with the bragging rights this year.

1:00 p.m. Updates, Questions and Answers: Assistant Chief Dave Risley, Ohio Division of Wildlife.

News and Information

The Ohio Bowhunters Association is dedicated to the sport of bowhunting and preserving our natural resources. We work closely with the Division of Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Council, and the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance, as well as, Bowhunters Rights Coalition.

The Ohio Bowhunters Association was very much involved in an anti-trapping issue several years ago, we attended meetings, raised money, and encouraged our membership to vote no on this issue. We helped win this battle. In 1998 we were faced with the threat of another loss with the legislation that the anti's had placed on the ballot, this time trying to stop dove hunting in the State of Ohio. Again, our organization went to work helping to raise the necessary funds and campaigning against this issue. Fortunately we were able to help defeat the issue and once again protect our hunting rights. Our organization was also instrumental in the passage of the Sunday hunting law and bowhunting fall turkey.

Each year at our annual awards banquet we recognize one of our State Wildlife Officers for outstanding work, not only in the field but work with the community as well. Our affiliated clubs nominate the individual that they feel is deserving of this honor, we confer with the Division of Wildlife on our candidate and have always been given high remarks on the Officer chosen.
